The Acadia National Park stamp was issued on October 2, 1934 as part of the National Park stamp series. The park comprises nearly 48,000 acres of land near Bar Harbor, Maine on Mt Desert Island. It was the first national park established east of the Mississippi River as Lafayette National Park on February, 26, 1919 under the administration of President Woodrow Wilson. It was renamed Acadia in 1929. The park features mountains, woodlands, lakes, ponds, and ocean shoreline. Cadillac Mountain is probably its most popular attraction which at 1,530 feet is the highest point on the U.S. Atlantic coast.
