Information
about the prints:
|
Our
prints are made on high quality giclee paper with a matte surface. Since
inkjet printing became popular 30 years ago, the inks have become more stable
and they are now more widely used for fine art prints than photo paper.
Besides providing a wide dynamic color range, the images should last many
years when framed behind glass and viewed under normal household lighting
conditions before any noticeable fading will occur. All prints are custom made to order for you. We don't keep an inventory of our print catalog so we can accomodate your special size requests. Please contact us with your inquiries. All prints are oversized so they can be properly matted. |

Information
about the stamps:
|
It's
important to remember the purpose of postage stamps. They were meant to
be sold by the post office and adhered to envelopes providing a revenue
stream for mail delivery. The stamps themselves, often less than one square
inch, were never meant to be reproduced in large sizes. Early stamps produced
prior to 1940 varied greatly in quality. The technology 80 years ago simply
did not exist to make a consistent print run of millions of stamps. Inking
often was uneven, color shifted with changing batches of ink and the paper
was coarse & fibrous. In small sizes, for the purpose intended, no one
cared except maybe the stamp collectors. The technology we use to reproduce each stamp often shows minor defects in the original even though we try to obtain the finest specimens. The defects are corrected where possible but you must understand that each stamp image stands alone as the best we can provide. As a whole, early stamps are remarkable pieces of history that should be enjoyed. |
