Future Farmers of America
"Future Farmers of America" was founded by a group of
young Kansas City farmers in 1928. Their mission was to prepare future
generations of high school students for the challenges of feeding a growing
population. In 1988 the name was changed to the National FFA Organization
now commonly called FFA. Today the FFA is a youth leadership organization
that strives to make a positive difference in the lives of young people
by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth
and career success through agricultural education. It is one of the largest
youth organizations in the United States, with 557,318 members in 7,498
chapters throughout all 50 states. The stamp, issued on October 13, 1953
in Kansas City, Missouri, commemorates the 25th anniversary of the organization.
