Water Conservation

This Water Conservation stamp was issued at the Washington, DC, post office on April 18, 1960 to commemorate the 7th Watershed Congress meeting in Washington, DC. Organized in 1951, the group was renamed the National Watershed Coalition in 1989. The NWC consists of national, regional and local organizations and individuals that are involved in watershed projects. They provide regional and national workshops and training sessions and offers assistance and education to its members. A general definition of water conservation - it encompasses the policies, strategies and activities to manage fresh water as a sustainable resource to protect the water environment and to meet current and future human demand.
