John F. Kennedy Memorial
Born on May 27, 1917, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th president
of the United States, who served from January 1961
until his assasination on November 22, 1963. As the youngest man who ever
became president, he immediately connected
with the American people. In his inaugural address, he challenged the
people to become active citizens by saying "Ask not what your country
can do for you ask what you can do for your country. Some
of his great accomplishments were: creating the Peace Corps, re-energizing
American space technology by committing America to put a man on the Moon
before 1970, dealing with the Soviet Union and championing American civil
rights. This 5 cent John F. Kennedy memorial stamp was issued on May 29,
1964, to commemorate his 47th birthday.
