Verrazano-Narrows Bridge

This Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Issue stamp commemorates the opening of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge connecting the New York City boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn. It is a double-decked suspension bridge. The bridge is named for both the Florentine explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano who became the first European to enter New York Harbor and the Hudson River.
