Traffic Safety

This Traffic Safety Issue stamp was issued to publicize traffic safety and the prevention of traffic accidents. Traffic lights are placed at intersection or pedestrian crosswalks to control the flow of traffic. The first traffic light, powered by gas lamps, was installed outside British Houses of Parliament in London in 1868. The stamp features an image of a traffic light displaying a red signal.
